SharePoint 2007 Support Ending

01 November 2012

Did you notice that Microsoft formally ended Mainstream support for MOSS 2007 during October? If you are still using SharePoint 2007 you need to be aware of the implications.

The ending of Mainstream support does not prevent you from continuing to use SharePoint. It only means that Microsoft will not be releasing any further service packs or hotfixes unless you pay for them (Extended Support).  Security update support is covered during the Extended Support phase – i.e. if someone discovers a security issue in MOSS 2007 you won’t have to pay to get it fixed. In other words functional issues are chargeable, security issues are not.

As a Microsoft Gold Partner we can continue to support SharePoint 2007 and we can also help you upgrade to 2010. SharePoint 2013 is now available and you may wish to consider jumping to 2013.  In either case there is good argument for upgrading and making use of the improvements and new features.

If you’d like to discuss the upgrade or support options please get in touch. We have plenty of experience of upgrading to 2010 and we can help you make the transition with minimal impact on your users.
